Town of Cokeville Meeting Minutes

Mayor Peck called the meeting to order at 7:00p.m.

Councilman Nate led the Pledge of Allegiance.

A motion by Councilman Harmon to approve the agenda, seconded by Councilwoman Lewis. Motion carried.

Motion to approve the Town Council meeting minutes for February 11, 2025, by Councilman Harmon seconded by Councilwoman Lewis. Motion carried.

Motion by Councilwoman Lewis to approve the accounts payable, Business Licenses and Payroll for February 2025, seconded by Councilman Harmon. Motion carried.

Awards and Public Recognition
Cokeville Highschool girls’ basketball took second at State tournament, Cokeville Highschool Wrestling took fourth at State tournament, Cokeville Highschool Boys basketball took first at regionals and consolation at State. Congratulations!
Councilman Harmon thanked the public works department for helping him when he broke down.
Councilwoman Lewis complimented Bentley Johnson for being a diligent worker and paying attention to his training in Marbleton. He represented Cokeville very well.

Public comment/communications
Susan Corey addressed the council and mayor regarding the snow piled in front of her propane tank. Her second concern was, is it her responsibility to take the snow away from the fire hydrants? Public Works will make a path to Susans propane tank. They also clear the fire hydrants.

Resolutions/Ordinances
Councilwoman Lewis made a motion to approve ORD 25-01 on the second reading, seconded by Councilman Nate. Motion carried.
Second Reading –– Councilwoman Lewis made a motion to discuss ORD 25-02 fireworks, seconded by Councilman Dayton. Councilman Harmon is concerned about the fireworks caught in the trees and catching them on fire. Motion to approve ORD 25-02 on the seconded reading by Councilman Nate seconded by Councilwoman Lewis. 4 yes 1 no Motion carried.
A motion to discuss ORD 25-04 by Councilman Nate, seconded by Councilwoman Lewis. A motion to table the first reading of ORD 25-04 by Councilwoman Lewis no second motion failed. Motion to approve the first reading of ORD 25-04 by Councilman Dayton seconded by Councilwoman Lewis. 4 yes 1 no Motion Carried
Motion to discuss ORD 25-05 Nuisance by Councilman Dayton seconded by Councilwoman Lewis. Motion to table ORD 25-05 by Councilman Dayton no second motion failed. Motion to table the ORD 25-05 nuisance until a work meeting can be scheduled to discuss this further by Councilman Nate seconded Councilman Dayton. Motion carried.

Reports from officers, Boards, and Committees
Councilman Nate – Streets & grounds
Temporary fixes with streets,
Councilwoman Lewis – Parks & Recreation, Economic Development
The council discussed when to have easter egg hunt, with snow and where? It was suggested to have the Easter Egg hunt on April 19, 2025, at the park if the snow is gone. If not, it may be moved to the city hall.
Councilman Harmon – Water/Sewer, Airport
The Airport is plowed and open. The water and sewer are good.
Councilman Dayton – Planning & Zoning, Business Relations
The application date is March 27 for Vista, the town will need to have a project.
Councilman Dayton handed out Master plan process. He wanted to have councils’ input on if what is on the handout is the items that they want.
The Web site update will take another couple of weeks.
Mayor Peck – Administration, Police, Public Works
The mayor informed everyone of approximately $32000 was earned on the surplus auction. He would like to utilize some of those funds by purchasing tables and chairs for the small conference room. A motion to purchase the table and chairs not to exceed $5000 by Councilwoman Lewis, seconded by Councilman Dayton. Motion carried.
The Mayor stated that we are rapidly approaching budget time of year for FY 25-26. He would like the department heads to be prepared with input on the departments. He would like to have a work meeting April 2 at 2:00p.m.
He cautioned that with this latest legislative session there will be budget cuts.
Councilman Dayton displayed the new upgraded website.
